COVID-19 Update 5/29/20:

While we had the best-laid plans to reopen Villa Finale: Museum & Gardens to the public on June 2nd, we have delayed this date until July 7th at the earliest. The reason for this delay is to give us adequate time and resources to accomplish our goals of providing safety for both our staff and visitors, as well as to create a new “undiminished experience” for our guests – both in person and virtually.

With the unique configuration of Villa Finale and its abundant collections, we are faced with a heightened challenge to work with the existing site. Nonetheless, we view this as an opportunity to develop even better programs and interpretations of the museum and to deliver them in imaginative ways.

We are thankful for your support, wish you good health, and look forward to seeing you again very soon!

While you may not be able to visit Villa Finale in person, you can still enjoy our collections virtually!

COVID-19 Statement and Policies:

Villa Finale is mindful of concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and we have been monitoring all developments. We have been assured by officials with the Metro Health and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the risk to residents and visitors in San Antonio remains very low. At this time we are taking recommended precautions while continuing regular operations at both Villa Finale and the Edward Steves Homestead.  All events, most programs, and daily visitation will proceed as planned. Please contact Visitor Services at (210) 223-9800 or visit this website for updates.

Please see below our current operational policies:

  • Volunteers and staff have been instructed to maintain a distance of at least 3 feet from guests; please be understanding of this necessary precaution.
  • We may limit the number of people in the home at any one time to maintain healthy distance between guests and staff/volunteers. Please enjoy the beautiful spring weather in our outdoor area during your brief wait or visit our gardens!
  • We certainly love to meet and greet our guests, but we are refraining from handshakes at this time.
  • Consider washing your hands before and after visiting the museum. We sanitize throughout the day, but washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water is the best method of sanitation.
  • We always maintain a “no-touching” policy, but it is more important than ever right now. Please refrain from touching surfaces and doors inside the home.
  • If you are feeling sick, please reconsider touring at this time. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, chills, sore throat, and dry cough.
  • Our operations may be constantly in flux as we deal with this virus, so we may need to make changes in our tours and/or scheduling. We ask that you be understanding, as our goal is always to protect our staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Located along the edge of San Antonio’s famous River Walk, Villa Finale’s gardens are a classic example of Southern gardens. Villa Finale welcomes all visitors to explore its gardens daily, free of charge.
