My deceased husband, John Russell South, was a grandson of the late Dillard R. Fant. Lucie Fant became John's mother, Lucille Fant South. It is very interesting to read "The Perils of 401 King William St.! I am impressed that, as Villa Finale, it will be a museum! Thank you all for your commitment to this beautiful area of San Antonio. Although I now live in the Dallas area, I hope to travel to S.A. soon and visit King William District. Thank you!

J & I Cox were retailers and not manufacturers.
The Argand you have is most likely English,
from one of the Birmingham factories.
I have several of these lamps. You may be
a little potimistic about the age also. Some
original catalogues do survive and are very
informative.
The impossibly tiny bulb is 7w possibly by
Satco, but other brands exist. I use them in
lamps not oil burning and they simulate the
correct light nicely.
Hope this is a help.

Dillard R. Fant was my husband's great grandfather. Thank you for writing this piece in a way that makes all that happened pretty understandable. Big money translates into big problems...then and now.
